Christmas

Our Christmas week started off with Josie visiting Santa at the mall!

Aunt Jessie arrived on the 23rd and things have been busy ever since. We knew Christmas was going to be extra special this year because of little miss Josie, and it didn't disappoint. Our Christmas festivities started off with Nick and I in the kitchen at 7am on Christmas Eve. I was only making vegetable dip and cutting up vegetables, and Nick started on his Christmas Eve feast (unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the food). We had homemade gravy, baked ziti, gnocchi with sausage and vegetables, stuffed shells, salad and bread. I also made Cannoli cream the night before so we had Cannolis for dessert!

Aunt Jessie and Josie had a blast together!

On Christmas day we headed up to Mansfield to my parents house. We got there around noon and waited on Keri, Frank and Frankie to arrive to start opening gifts. Before we left I knew something was wrong with Josie. She was very fussy and didn't want to be put down. I noticed when I was changing her that she had a mean case of diaper rash. Poor things little tush was so raw it hurt to wipe or sit on it- case in point the photo below. Of course she is going to have sensitive skin like her parents! I had horrible diaper rash when I was little and had to use cloth diapers- let's hope it doesn't come to that!

Once the trio arrived we got started! Frankie dove right in and wanted to start opening every ones gifts! We gave him all of his gifts first to keep him busy.

Uncle Nick gave Frankie his first real soccer ball

And now time for the family photos- Josie had 3 outfits to get through if you include the one she travelled in.

check out those lips!

This is a typical occurrence at a Valdepena Christmas- My parents buy me a gift and Keri steals it! hahah. I have been on the hunt for a gold watch for a few years- Keri took one look at it and decided she would keep it- I didn't even get to try it on!

That night we were supposed to get a major snow storm so Aunt Jessie changed her flight and stayed an extra day! The next day we took down all the Christmas decorations and basically stayed in the house because we got a lot of freezing rain. Josie and Jessie had such a big time together and we can't wait for her to visit again soon! Maybe next time she will change a poopie diaper :)

Baptismal Weekend

This past weekend was a very special weekend for our family- Josephine was baptized. It was so nice to catch up with our families and celebrate.

What made the baptism even more special was Josie was able wear the same baptismal gown my sister and I wore 30 years ago. Mom has kept it in a hope chest all this time and it looks exactly the same.

These are from my baptism with my Godmother/Nana. Keri had a fro and never brushed her hair, but I assume my mother made an exception that day!  :)

We had such a great day/night that of course something was bound to go wrong. As soon as we got home Josie started throwing up and had diarrhea. For 2-3 days we have been dealing with a sick baby and its not fun. She has barely been eating and sleeping all day and night, but thankfully she doesn't have a fever. Today she seems to be feeling better and almost back on her schedule- thank god!
