It's the final countdown...

Thank goodness the party wasn't this last weekend because someone wasn't in a very good mood. I read that babies her age tend to go through separation anxiety again, stranger anxiety, being picky, can stop sleeping through the night ( lets hope not!) and so on....

On Friday, Josie and I had a hot lunch date with Kyong. I took pictures this time! She remembered Kyong immediately and took up to her. I swear she is the baby whisperer, just look at Josie, hahaha. I have never seen her so complacent in my life, she was in a trance!

After lunch, Josie went down for her afternoon nap and I got a few things done. We had some surprise visitors at 3- Keri, Frank and the kids stopped by. Josie was super shy, I've never seen her like that, and she wasn't interested in playing with Frankie or letting Uncle Frank hold her. She just snuggled up with Nick and I. Ohhhhhhhhhh shades of things to come this weekend, I'm afraid. After awhile she became more comfortable and started to play. I think Frankie had a good time with her toys and is looking forward to eating some birthday cake. We decided to go to Jason's Deli for dinner and the free ice cream- who would turn that down!

Frankie almost slept through dinner

Josie's birthday gift from Mama and Dada.

She decided on Saturday and Sunday that she didn't want an afternoon nap. She can now stand in her crib, so I think shes just too excited to sleep and she is probably cutting back on her napping hours. We'll see how she does at Jen's this week.

Annnnnd a little throwback in honor of Josie's birthday week. I figure on your first birthday- you get to celebrate all week- not just a day.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Glad this work week is over, and that means one thing....ONE MORE WEEK and our little girl is officially 1!  Things have slowed down a bit, but we are still getting ready for the party, and will have a lot to do this weekend and next.

Josie's little personality is really shining these days. She is such a sweet girl, but definitely knows what she wants and has an opinion about it. We are still working on walking every day, and even though she wont be walking by her birthday, that's OK with me. Keeps her little for a little while longer. She is now starting to slowly move along furniture and can go from her music table to the couch. Each day she gets a little more confident and she isn't falling on her butt so much. She is learning to ease herself down so she doesn't crash on the ground. She does have a terrible habit of just letting go of things and falling towards us. So we have to be on the lookout at all times.

Everyday I go and pick Josie up, she is standing at the footstool waiting for me. Jen said she knows my knock and gets really excited when I round the corner. It makes my day to see how happy she is to see me. All she wants to do is be with me, crawl all over me, and share her toys with me and its wonderful. Hell, Simba doesn't even get up to greet me half the time so I will take Josie's excitement any day and every day.

This is the look she prefers these days.....

Nick and I don't like it one bit and we are afraid shes going to fall and choke herself. So we have to keep a close eye on her because she is really sneaky. The other day I caught her pulling up on the trashcan with the carrot in her mouth! Bad girl!

don't worry- we usually unplug the computer
when she's aroud

Gettin shit done

The one awful thing when having people over is I feel like the house has to be perfect. I don't want anyone to think I am dirty or keep an uncleanly house, BUT on the other hand...having people over is a great way to get some deep cleaning done and finish up some last minute projects that I have been putting off.

Case in point- paint the outside of the door and get some flowers for our super pathetic garden. We all went to Lowe's on Saturday after the rained cleared to pick out a new mailbox and some mums. I cant keep anything alive, so I figured mums would be easy, and if they die, at least they'll look good for the party!

Forgot to take a pic of the new mailbox- will show you on Friday

Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Lots to get done this weekend so we can't waste any time! The par-tay is only 2 weeks away and we have lots to get done. First things first- fix the mailbox. I came home to this on Wednesday...

There was a note in the mailbox from the post man and it said the box "just fell over" when he shut the door. WELL, maybe if all the neighbors didn't let their dogs piss all over our mailbox, the brackets wouldn't have rusted out- just a thought.

We have to finish preparing the menu, decorations, and get some damn flowers for our house because I feel like it looks like the house from The Burbs...( which is one of the best 80's movies of all time). I might have to bust out my VHS copy this weekend and watch.

A few pics from this week....

losing it at Jen's- Austin stole her toy.
hahaha

looking so grown up!

Have a great weekend everyone! Better get busy on all our projects

Fall Love

Its no secret that Fall is my favorite time of year, and this weekend really got me in the mood and I AM READY! I always get really nostalgic this time of year -I don't really know why, but I feel like I should be in school, heading to soccer practice, wearing an ugly blue sweater vest, and watching Hocus Pocus and Mermaids.

I am ready for all that fall brings- shorter days and longer sleeves. Pumpkin picking and hot chocolate drinking. Leaves changing, and crisp wind blowing. Pumpkin Ale drinking and warm meal eating. Fires blazing and knit hat wearing. It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown watching and baby Halloween costume making. Long stroll walking and caramel apple making. I could go on and on but I relish all the days that Autumn brings, because it really is the best time of year

I just hope Josie shares her mother's affinity for the season. She has already welcomed it with the traditional cough that usually accompanies fall in the Midwest.

Schmidt's Fail

We had a lovely weekend indeed! The weather was perfect, so it gave us a chance to get outside, take a walk, open the windows and enjoy the sunshine. I worked on Friday to make up some of my time and Josie was sooooo happy to get back over to Jen's and play with her buddies.

Saturday we hung around, Nick made some more ravioli, and I made peanut butter squares and homemade chicken and dumplings. That shit took 2 hours to make, but it was totally worth it, and Josie absolutely loved it. Jeremy came over for dinner and to watch the football game. He wore a hat, his first mistake. Well no, his first mistake was being a man, the second was wearing the hat because Josie lost it. She was so upset and once he took off the hat, she calmed down and was OK.

We wanted to get out of the house on Sunday so we set off to get some brunch. We should have known better, and by the time we got to the joint, the line was out the door and people were everywhere so we decided to go to Schmidt's. We hadn't been there since our wedding, and wanted Josie to try some new foods. I got the buffet to share with Josie and Nick ordered a Reuben.

I forgot her spoon-mistake one. I fed her a few bites of red skinned potato, and she took those OK. Then I got greedy and tried to give her a green bean-mistake two. She didn't trust me the rest of the meal and would only eat her cheerios and graham cracker. She wouldn't even eat any macaroni and cheese! That's how pissed she was. We even tried to give her a piece of chocolate cake- the trust was gone.
