Party Hardy!

We celebrated her big birthday all weekend and let me tell you it was a busy one. Lots of family in town to spend quality time with- all while keeping to her schedule as best as we could.

On Friday, I had a ton to get done, so I dropped Josie off at Jen's in the morning, and ran my errands. Then Josie and I went to lunch with Johnny and Ernie and we had a great time!

We had to get back so Josie could nap and get ready to go see the Fisher's for dinner. Josie found a mirror on the floor, and I wish I had taken a picture because she loved looking at herself crawling around. Hmmmm 1yr photo idea??

2 mug shots

OK, so the big day. I woke Josie up that morning with a happy song and dance, and she greeted me in her crib standing up. She was born at 7:24 am last year, and this year I was feeding her a bottle- it was very surreal. We had a ton to get done and Nick and I were praying she took 2 good naps. She HAD to be rested for the party! We rushed to get everything ready by 3:30 and that's when guests started to show. I think we had around 25 people in our small house, that is a lot! The weather didn't hold out, but that's OK- it was nice and cozy inside.

As you know, Nick worked for a month making pasta and gravy by hand for her big day. Once we got everything cooked, it was so delicious and everyone really enjoyed themselves- especially Josie. Pasta is one of her favorites, so she dug right in!

heading up to get a quick bath

the only picture of the three of us :(

After I rinsed her off it was time for CAKE! I wasn't sure how it would go, but she has half my chromosomes so certainly she would love cake, right???? Frankie was dying to dig in so we had to get the singing on and cake cut. She wasn't too sure about it, and grabbing the candle seemed like the obvious choice. But once she took a bite of the icing it was all over. Of course I wasn't paying attention and she ate ALL the icing off that huge piece of cake. I tried to give her an actual piece of the cake and she spit it out. I guess she knows what the good part is.

grabbing lit candles- whoops

After cake, we tore open all the gifts and she is one spoiled girl! Lots of toys, clothes, puzzles, money and special gifts from Ireland! I had to rinse her one more time, and by then the party was winding down.

45 lbs of love right there!

saying bye to the NY crew

We had the best time celebrating our little love with our family and friends, and Josie loved seeing everyone again. Phew, its a good thing birthday's only come once a year- Nick and I need to recuperate! We have a big month planned with lost of visitors, play dates, photo shoots and a baptism, so the party continues!

Tomorrow is Josie's 1yr check up- can't wait to see what her stats are! :)

Happy Anniversary to my one and only! We finally get a night to ourselves and we are really looking forward to it! We are headed to one of our favorite places- G. Michael. The last time we ate there was last January, and I couldn't even drink a glass of wine because it tasted terrible. I told Nick that night I'm either pregnant or have a brain tumor. We found out the next week I was expecting....

I know I posted these pictures last year, but its fun to look back so here they are again.

First photo Nov 2006- damn we are young!

Big changes for a big girl

Lots of big changes will be happening by weeks end. Its hard to believe that an entire year has passed since Josie came into our world. Today was my last day of work, last year and I remember thinking- god, it will be so nice to be home, to finally meet Josie and to love on her every minute of every day.

So about these changes...by Sunday there will be no more bottles, binki's or boobs in the house. That's right, I am cutting her off cold turkey and we are moving into big girl territory. The only thing I am really worried about is the binki, but she will get over it quickly I'm sure. I have slowly decreased my nursing sessions over the last few months, and am down to once a day. This morning I put some whole milk in her bottles so she can get used to the taste.

It's a little sad to think that I'm not going to be nursing her anymore. Didn't think I'd feel that way, but after having so many issues in the beginning and making it a full year, I'm pretty proud of myself and Josie for coming such a long way. Looking back it was me that was causing the problems, not her. She knew exactly what she was doing, I did not. Lesson learned for the next one.

Here are some first week photos- gets me all teary going down memory lane. She was so beautiful from the moment she was born. I cant get over how much she has grown and changed. I'll probably start bawling when we sing her happy birthday! Who am I???? I've never cried at anything in my life! Not even when she was born- well maybe a little because it took 3 hours to push that big monster out. :)

More trips down memory lane this week and a big anniversary date tomorrow!
