Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone! As you read this, I am officially away from Josie for the first time *tear*. Actually, I feel OK since I am only 15 minutes away and should anything happen, I'm close. I know Nick is really looking forward to his daddy/daughter weekend and deciding on what kind of shenanigans they will get into!

Josie is soooooooooooo close to crawling. I know I keep saying that, but this time I mean it. She has been working hard all week, and is really pushing up, rocking, scooting and belly flopping around. It's also taken her all week to get back on schedule. She has been so tired from last weekend, she is pissed when we get her up from naps, and ready to go to bed by 6pm.

We gave her a few pieces of couscous and peas. She wasn't all that thrilled, but enjoyed picking them up and blowing them out of her mouth. I will try and get a video next time, she was cracking us up.

Have a great weekend! XOXO

9 Months

What a busy month Josie has had! I always have to refer to her baby book and my notes, because so many things happen and I cant remember all of them. Here is her list:  New foods-blackberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, grapes, kiwi, and plums. Other firsts include- first time in the pool, started to take steps with help, can go from sitting to on her belly, starting to pull out all my hair, and first airplane trip!

One of the biggest things is I changed her schedule a bit last week. I figured it was a long weekend, she was getting increasingly more and more pissy when I'd wake her up at 8 pm to eat, so why not switch it up. Once I get home from work, she is literally eating every hour or two. Which is fine, but I need to start decreasing her milk intake, so I scratched the 5 pm nursing, replaced it with her snack that she usually has at 6 and then nurse her at 7 instead of 8 and put her straight to bed. I was worried that going to bed without a 20 minute feeding/reading session would cause her to wake up at 6 am, but who was I kidding..that girl can sleep sleep sleep. She seems to be much happier, and didn't even notice that I switched things up and took away a nursing session. As long as she is getting food, she could care less. I also added in breakfast since I took away one "meal". So here is her somewhat revised schedule.

7 am-nurse
8 am- snack
11 am- nurse/bottle
12 pm-snack
3 pm-nurse/bottle
5 pm-snack
7 pm-nurse/bed

She still isn't crawling yet, but is really close. She tries, but I don't think she has much interest in it. She would rather be walking or standing. She is now a speed demon in her walker and can maneuver herself around if she gets stuck. She will push herself backward, turn and keep on truckin- smart girl!

usual sour puss face

I waited to wait to do her 9 month post because we went to the doctor this morning. We couldn't wait to see what her height/weight stats were and hear what Dr. Niland had to say. She had her hemoglobin checked to make sure she wasn't iron deficient, and no shots thank goodness! Dr. Niland said she looked wonderful, she was healthy, proportionate, right on track and can eat whatever we are eating- with the exception of honey and nuts. So miss thang will get some lemon chicken and couscous tonight!

NY

On Thursday morning we decided to make a last minute trip to see Nick's family in NY, so we hurried up and booked a hotel, packed our bags, and headed out at 8:30 am the next day. We weren't sure how Josie would do on the trip. Yes, we had a successful airplane ride, but she wasn't strapped into a seat for 6 hours, so we just had to wait and see. The drive took a little longer than usual because we had to stop to feed her a few times, but we made it there in about 6-6.5 hours, so not too bad. She did really well, slept for a few hours, but by the end, she was so over being strapped in, she was begging to get out.

Eating her snack in the McDonald's parking lot

We checked into the hotel, got her bed set up, and headed over to Great Grandpa's and Grandma's house.
It took her a bit to warm up, new places, new faces, but in no time, she was her usual happy self.

We were headed out for some fish fry that night and Josie finally got to meet Cousin Karen and Phil, Great Aunt Marsha, and Great Uncle Bill. We were praying that she didn't make a scene at the restaurant, because she was going on little sleep, but she was a trooper and kept everyone entertained during dinner.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel and it was bed time for the little one. She was so exhausted, she literally fell asleep in 5 minutes. And that also meant it was bedtime for Nick and I. Thankfully we brought something to read, so we just hung out while she snoozed and went to bed early ourselves.

We got up at our usual time the next morning, ate some breakfast and before we knew it, she was ready to go back down. She needed to get a good nap in that morning so she wouldn't be in a bad mood all day. So from about 8:15-10:30 she slept again. Once she got up, we quickly showered, fed her and walked down to the river and grabbed some lunch. It was so hot and steamy already, so we threw her in the stroller with the big sun shade and walked around. I slathered sunscreen on Josie, and should have put some on myself, because I of course got burnt.

After lunch, we ran to Grandpa's again for quick hello and then Josie needed another nap, so Karen and Phil came to keep me company while Nick stayed with Josie. We grabbed some ice cream, and they told me all about their Montana adventures. Once Josie got up, Nick, Karen and I headed to Fort Niagara so Josie could dip her toes in the water and walk on the "beach". Nick and I hadn't been there since our engagement photos in 2009 so it was fun to go back. Too bad it was overcast, but we got some great shots anyway. We took a few quick swings on the swing, and then headed back to town for dinner.

Feeling sand for the first time

look at that beautiful, clear, safe "beach"!

sweet face Philip!

By 7:30, Josie was ready to head to bed so we said our goodbyes. The next morning we were up early and ready to head out when Brian and Liz called, so we of course had to stop by and see them. They had just returned from The Azores at 3:30 am and a certain 4 yr old was up at 6:30 ready to tend to his garden and eat some lunch! Nick and I hadn't seen Liam since he was 2 weeks old and we were dying to get the two babies together (picture coming soon). Not going to lie, I think Josie has a few pounds on him... They boys were insanely wide awake for just getting home 6 hours before, and I asked James, (who had major bags under his eyes) if he was tired, and all I got was "NO!". Hahah. Oh to be 4 and 6 again.

It was so much fun visiting everyone and taking Josie someplace new. So until next time. XOXO-Josie

Early Arrival!

Liz and Joseph welcomed their baby BOY a few weeks early yesterday afternoon! Her water broke at 2 am and he arrived at 12 noon! Ugh, so unfair!

Here is a picture of "little" Patrick Joseph. He was 8 lb 5 oz and 21.75 in long. Sad thing is Josie, was still 7 oz bigger...hahah yikes.

Also, I was apparently having way too much fun playing with Josie before work on Monday, and forgot to change my shoes! Slippers at work, anyone??
