NY

On Thursday morning we decided to make a last minute trip to see Nick's family in NY, so we hurried up and booked a hotel, packed our bags, and headed out at 8:30 am the next day. We weren't sure how Josie would do on the trip. Yes, we had a successful airplane ride, but she wasn't strapped into a seat for 6 hours, so we just had to wait and see. The drive took a little longer than usual because we had to stop to feed her a few times, but we made it there in about 6-6.5 hours, so not too bad. She did really well, slept for a few hours, but by the end, she was so over being strapped in, she was begging to get out.

We checked into the hotel, got her bed set up, and headed over to Great Grandpa's and Grandma's house.
It took her a bit to warm up, new places, new faces, but in no time, she was her usual happy self.

We were headed out for some fish fry that night and Josie finally got to meet Cousin Karen and Phil, Great Aunt Marsha, and Great Uncle Bill. We were praying that she didn't make a scene at the restaurant, because she was going on little sleep, but she was a trooper and kept everyone entertained during dinner.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel and it was bed time for the little one. She was so exhausted, she literally fell asleep in 5 minutes. And that also meant it was bedtime for Nick and I. Thankfully we brought something to read, so we just hung out while she snoozed and went to bed early ourselves.

We got up at our usual time the next morning, ate some breakfast and before we knew it, she was ready to go back down. She needed to get a good nap in that morning so she wouldn't be in a bad mood all day. So from about 8:15-10:30 she slept again. Once she got up, we quickly showered, fed her and walked down to the river and grabbed some lunch. It was so hot and steamy already, so we threw her in the stroller with the big sun shade and walked around. I slathered sunscreen on Josie, and should have put some on myself, because I of course got burnt.

After lunch, we ran to Grandpa's again for quick hello and then Josie needed another nap, so Karen and Phil came to keep me company while Nick stayed with Josie. We grabbed some ice cream, and they told me all about their Montana adventures. Once Josie got up, Nick, Karen and I headed to Fort Niagara so Josie could dip her toes in the water and walk on the "beach". Nick and I hadn't been there since our engagement photos in 2009 so it was fun to go back. Too bad it was overcast, but we got some great shots anyway. We took a few quick swings on the swing, and then headed back to town for dinner.

Feeling sand for the first time

look at that beautiful, clear, safe "beach"!

sweet face Philip!

By 7:30, Josie was ready to head to bed so we said our goodbyes. The next morning we were up early and ready to head out when Brian and Liz called, so we of course had to stop by and see them. They had just returned from The Azores at 3:30 am and a certain 4 yr old was up at 6:30 ready to tend to his garden and eat some lunch! Nick and I hadn't seen Liam since he was 2 weeks old and we were dying to get the two babies together (picture coming soon). Not going to lie, I think Josie has a few pounds on him... They boys were insanely wide awake for just getting home 6 hours before, and I asked James, (who had major bags under his eyes) if he was tired, and all I got was "NO!". Hahah. Oh to be 4 and 6 again.

It was so much fun visiting everyone and taking Josie someplace new. So until next time. XOXO-Josie
