Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Thank goodness this week is winding down because it has been a long and busy one. We are all FINALLY on the mend and dare I say back to normal. Nick ended up getting sick as well, so we've been taking care of each other all week, and Miss Josie is back in full force and being a crazy girl.

She has had three new teeth break through, and she is now pulling herself to standing and will walk with assistance. She still prefers to crawl, but we are working on walking a bit each day.

I am slowly but surely getting all of her birthday stuff together. I managed to make a 10 lb fabric banner to hang on her highchair- still not sure how its going to stay. I still have to order pictures and the cake, figure out the menu and where everyone is going to sit. And pray for nice weather so we can go outside. OH and figure out what to do for our anniversary because its right before the big bash...

Josie is getting waaaay to smart and is already really clever. I know she is done eating once she starts throwing food to Simba. The other day she was eating her cheesy cauliflower (which was not a hit) and she started giving it to him. So I told her "no" and that she was done and walked away to clean all the dishes. Of course the second I turn my head, she has thrown all of it on the floor. I know its only just beginning. She wouldn't dare share a cheerio though- those are her favorite.

Have a great weekend!
xoxo

Update-a-roo

Well, everyone made it through the weekend. Well, sort of. Nick and Josie had a great time. She slept all night for him, which was the first time all week! I on the other hand, did not have such luck. Josie came down with "hand, foot and mouth" virus. It is nasty, highly contagious, and she was miserable all last week but seems to be on the mend. The doctor took one look in her throat and said she has white bumps all over the place, so its really painful to eat and swallow, hence why she wasn't eating, drinking, or sleeping. We are pumping her full of OTC meds every six hours. Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and Benadryl.

I went to Louisville on Saturday with the best intentions and felt fine all day, but by 7pm, I was absolutely freezing and it was 90 degrees. So I decided to be a party pooper and head back to the hotel, order a $20 salad and could only eat the rolls. By midnight, I woke up in a pool of sweat because my fever had broke and I could barely swallow.

Home today with Josie so she can continue to get better and take care of myself as well. Of course she spread her germs to all of Jen's kids so we are all feeling less than 100%. I'm just glad this happened well before her birthday! I can't imagine her not eating any birthday cake.

I happen to take a few pictures this weekend- and Nick sent me some as well.

Happy Friday

Quick post today since I informed you all of how how week was shaping up last night. I am off to Louisville for Coll's bachelorette party, so Dad is in charge! Taking Jo to the doctor this morning to check out her rash and the sore in her mouth. Ohhhhh the joys of teething... and not sleeping again.

11 Months

11 down, 1 to go!! We are in final countdown mode until Oct 5th and I still can't believe its almost here! Where has the last year gone, no really? I can't even begin to wrap my head around how things have changed and what we have accomplished in such a short time. Nick and I were looking back through Josie's photo album, all the smiles, the firsts, the milestones- it all happened in the blink of an eye.

With all that said, Josie has started her 11th month off with a bang. No one got any sleep lat night- no one. Not even Simba, and I think he could sleep in a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant. To say she is teething terribly is an understatement. She wouldn't eat yesterday- only super cold things, her nose is runny, her butt is raw and pimply, her mouth is raw and swollen, she has had a high fever for 2 days, I think she might have a canker sore-or thrush, and she wants to be held all the time. I don't blame her, growing up stinks.

However the really shitty part is the nurse at the pediatrician's office told me to quit using the wipes and start using a baking soda/water mixture. wtf? Oh, and let her go without the diaper as much as we can. So let me get this straight- I'm supposed to let her free ball it (if she had balls), take the chance that she might poop and pee all over the furniture or my lap, and then when she does, run to the kitchen make a special mixture to wipe her hoo hoo and then don't put the diaper back on??? Me no understand. What happens when she poops? Do I use a paper towel? That would be too rough. A Kleenex wouldn't absorb anything and will flake off in her lady parts. What about a washcloth you might ask? Well, I guess I could do that, and just wring them out after each use and risk them being discolored forever with poop particles. I guess we'll just have to see how this all goes. Oh, and I'm supposed to let her soak in a baking soda bath a few times a day.

Even though this week hasn't been a dream, Josie has had an amazing month as far as learning and growth is concerned and we couldn't be more proud. She will hand over things when asked- every morning she hands me her paci, and she is also learning how things work and will utilize her stacking cups and rings properly. She gives kisses, waves bye bye, knows who the "doggie" is and always pounds on the door for him to come back. She has tried lemon risotto, spaghetti and meatballs, cheese ravioli, french fries, turkey sausage, pumpkin waffles, cheese enchilada, blueberry pancakes, graham crackers, cinnamon waffles, cauliflower and a french toast stick! She also started saying "mama" which is still few and far between.

Here are this months stats
Height- 29 in (guesstimate)
Weight- 23 lb (guesstimate)
Clothes Size- 9 mo
Diaper Size- 4

as good as its going to get today...

yesterday's misery :(

Lets pray for a better nights sleep- I got her to eat some yogurt and poofs so that is an improvement.

Long weekend wrap-up

Even though it was a long holiday weekend, I don't feel like we got much done. I really don't know what we do with our days anymore, but they seem to go, and we don't accomplish much. Friday was a busy day though with our trip to Yellow Springs. We loaded up the SUV and dropped Dad off at the antique mall. Yes, you read that right. My Dad has become an antique shopper. Never in a million years did I think I'd ever utter those words. Nick now calls my parents the "Mansfield Pickers".

After we dropped him off, Mom and I headed to town to meet with Colette. It was hot as hell that day and I was so proud of how Josie handled it. I don't have the high resolution pictures yet, but here are her favorite shots from the day. She modeled two hats again and after the first we really needed to get to a shaded area.

she wasn't too sure about that owl-
but let him hang next to her during the shoot

On Saturday we were so excited for the Dolan's to visit and Josie was ready to see her buddy again. The girls took to each other immediately and had a great time. I wish we had a picture of Josie in her walker, because Caroline was so jealous that she was zooming around in her cool wheels!

telling secrets already

Josie and C must visit the same barber-
business in front, party in the back!

How's it hanging Caroline?
A little low and to the right?? :)

I have never seen Josie take to another man like she did Joe!
She LOVED him

After our lunch visit, Josie was pooped for the rest of the day so we just hung out and went to the grocery store. Nick wanted to make fresh pasta on Sunday, so we had to get all the ingredients. We also managed to go to the mall on Sunday and I ran a few other errands on Monday which was a huge mistake. It wasn't "Labor Day" in Columbus, it should have been called "Hoosier Day" (that's hillbilly for the non-Missoura folk) because every damn hillbilly was out in full force!

homemade cheese and spinach ravioli! it was delish

smashing stache don't you think??

Tonight, Josie has a fever and was not feeling too hot- she hasn't been that snugly in awhile- she just wanted to be held so hopefully she feels better tomorrow.

Happy Friday

Happy long weekend Friday everyone! I need this long weekend, let me tell you. Today, Josie, Janer and I are heading back to Yellow Springs for another photo shoot! So excited to model another bonnet and pick one out. Praying the weather cooperates, its supposed to be 90 degrees and maybe rain.

However, we are so looking forward to tomorrow because the Dolan's are stopping by! Yes, we are finally getting Ms. Caroline and Josie back together after a long break. They are stopping for lunch on their way to the lake and we couldn't be more excited. I just hope Josie doesn't embarrass us and get upset when Caroline tries to love on her. She has a tendency to push away anyone that wants to hug and kiss her that isn't Nick or I.

This time I really mean it- we are going to baby proof this weekend!!!!!! I have a long list to get at the store and we are going to finally put the baby gate upstairs so she can crawl around. I need to get some new "big girl" spoons and forks since she will be using utensils soon, cabinet locks, sharp edge protectors, deodorizer for her trashcan, spray for her room, wooden puzzles, and maybe a new outfit or two (my favorite time of the year is upon us!).

not feeding her fast enough

crazy girl

It really is amazing how the Internet has connected all of us- whether we like it or not. I found Kelle Hampton by chance through Pinterest, who had a guest post by thewildercoast, and through stalking and reading about her amazing adventures, I noticed that digthischick was always commenting and they seemed to see each other often, even though they lived in different states. Then I started follow 'dig' and noticed that UB2           advertises on her site and it all comes full circle. Not that the other 3 bloggers have any clue who I am, but I love reading about their lives and children and I just may stalk thewildercoast at Colleen's wedding because she just moved to Asheville- I want to meet her so bad!

Have a safe, long weekend everyone!
